Overview

According to the sectoral distribution of final energy consumption, the services sector ranks third in consumption, consuming approximately 950,000 tons of oil equivalent, a percentage of up to 14% for 2017 according to what was stated in the energy balance in the publication of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for 2018, and is considered Also from the sectors consuming electric energy, so that the consumption of this sector reaches 15% of the consumption of electrical energy in 2017; Therefore, the Fund considered this sector as a priority in preparing its implementation plan so that it designed a program to rationalize energy consumption and improve the efficiency for the tourism related entities.

Objectives

Developing appropriate technical and financial support products “windows” for tourism sector to reduce overall energy consumption of electricity and fossil fuels through provision of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions by implementing recommendations of commissioned energy audits for tourism facilities such as hotels to improve the sector’s competitiveness by reducing energy costs.
