The Italian Ministry for the Environment
The Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS) and the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) – a national fund operating under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (MEMR) - signed a Technical Arrangement on Sustainable Development Cooperation in the field of Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
On 26th of June 2018, in Rome, the Parties signed the Work Plan of Activities. The Work Plan focuses on the following areas of interest:
Technology transfer and capacity building in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures;
Implementation of the measures identified in the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Exchange of experiences, technical management and coordination.
The key criteria used for selecting the proposed project are:
Having high impact across the country;
Providing high visibility for this partnership;
Creating a high return on investment.
The proposed project will benefit Jordan’s municipalities and will thus be highly visible. The project will also bring in a considerable return on investment as average payback of such systems in Jordan is around 3 years.
